If anyone had doubts about Dimitar Berbatov being worthy of wearing the Manchester United shirts this was totally dispelled on a wet Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford. Berbatov got his second headed goal in the 84th minute and become the first United player since Stan Pearson in 1946 to score a hat-trick past fiercest rivals Liverpool.

Bolton 0 – 4 Man Utd
A Dimitar Berbatov-inspired brace moved United back to the Premier League summit and was the perfect response to Chelsea’s 7-1 drubbing of Aston Villa earlier in the afternoon.
In the absense of Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand it could have been a difficult game for Sir Alex Gergusons side but Berbatov took on the challenge. He was in masterful form, playing as a lone striker as he scored twice in United’s 4-0 victory against Bolton.
For over thirty minutes of the game Bolton worked hard and made a game of it. This all changed when J Lloyd Samuel inadvertedly placed Ryan Giggs’ 38th minute cross into his own right-hand corner of the net.
From this point on it was Berbatov and Nani that lead the show and staked their claim for a starting role in the important Champions League game against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Hull 1 – 3 Man Utd
Wayne Rooney scored one goal and was involved in three more during United’s 3-1 win away to Hull. The much needed victory moved United to within two points of leaders Chelsea who had drawn the previous day against Birmingham
Rooney pounced on the stroke of half-time with a close range finish after a great cross on the wing from Darren Fletcher to claim his 14th goal of the season and sixth in as many games.
